The wrath of God also causes Him to abhor those who rebel against Him. The psalmist writes, “For they provoked Him with their high places and aroused His jealousy with their graven images. When God heard, He was filled with wrath and greatly abhorred Israel” (Ps. 78: 58– 59). The word translated “abhorred” (Hebrew maas) means “to hate, to despise, to reject, to cast away.” There is an intense loathing that God has for those who worship false gods. - Steven Lawson
